Who doesn’t love house plants? They help to beautify your home, purify the air, and add a little life to any space. With the right state of mind and the proper maintenance, indoor plants can be incredibly easy to care for. Here are a few tips to help you grow happy, healthy plants in your home:
4 Tips for Growing House Plants
- Provide light. Plants need light! Figure out just how much natural light your plants need and then accommodate. You may even need to provide an indoor grow lamp if there isn’t a window that you can place the plants near. A window is the ideal place for plants to receive light, though.
- Water your plants as needed. This can be tricky. Of course plants need water, but it needs to be just the right amount. When you water your plants, stop once you see the water come out of the bottom of the pot. large plants that are in large plants need less watering than plants which are in smaller pots, which will dry out every couple of days.
- Beware of pests. Some plants are less vulnerable to insects than others. Plants that have thin leaves often are attacked by spider mites and whitefly, while others get scale or mealy bugs. Green Thumb, an insecticide with natural and safe ingredients, attacks the bugs, killing them and prevents them from coming back. Mold and diseases may also infect plants. These can be treated with Pure 3-Way. This fungicide contains lemongrass oil, a natural fungicide that kills the mold and disease and prevents it from coming back.
- Use a good pot. When you water your plant, the water goes into the saucer and evaporates around the plant, which makes the air around it slightly more humid. This can be helpful to the plant in winter. Be sure the water doesn’t reach the bottom of the pot – if the pot sits in water, the roots of your plant will begin to rot and the plant can eventually die. When watering, be sure to wipe up any spills right away.
